Big Cat Phonics
Collins Big Cat Phonics introduces an innovative concept in lesson delivery to the primary class room. The well established and familiar Collins character Big Cat and new companion Snappy (original character design by Can Studios) lead the class* through a ten minute daily whiteboard session introducing sounds, words and sentences. As part of a complete complete phonics programme children are able to blend and segment individual words and read and write in full sentences by the end of the 300 sessions included.
The delivery engine designed by Can Studios specifically for this application is able to generate a random lesson for each day based on the class' progress. The system dynamically combines thousands of sound elements to produce each lesson from the phonemes and words practised so far. The system automatically adjusts the support delivered by the animated characters as the children become familiar with each new sound.
A teachers area provides a number of controls allowing the teacher to refine the automatic support level, and vocabulary settings for each class in the system. Also contained in the teachers area are a wide range of printable resources and video guides to phoneme pronunciation and lesson delivery.
There are four games in this Big Cat package consolidating the children's new phonic knowledge through pirates, space, fairy tales and music themes. The games can be played by children individually or by one or two teams with an adult as scorer.
* The package works equally well for individual users on a desktop PC or Mac.
